Rooms

Diverse Learning Environments

Toddlers

The toddler room is for children ages 1 and 2. The state regulated ratio for the toddler room is 1:5 (one teacher to five children). The low ratio is great for the children as they develop a caring and loving relationship with their teacher.

While the children are in the care of NCLC their day will spent learning, growing and developing.  Teachers for this age group understand and implement activities that meet the standards of being developmentally appropriate.

With the guidance of a caring and nurturing teacher the children will experience the benefits of play, being read to, creating through art activities, being outside and being cared for  to meet their physical needs.

Young Preschool

The Young Preschool Room is for ages 2 -3. The state regulated ratio is set at 1:5 for children up to age 2 1/2. The ratio increases to seven when children turn 2 1/2.

Children attending in this room are encouraged to engage in activities that are hands-on and developmentally appropriate, while promoting self- help skills and independence.

Children can spend their day engaged in reading and being read to, painting, building with blocks or even dressing up as a doctor, astronaut and vet. They can also sing, dance, play musical instruments or work a puzzle.

The teacher with her caring and nurturing builds relationships that promotes self-help skills such as potty training and responsibility.

Preschool

In the preschool room children ages 3-5 spend their time engaged in hands- on activities that meet the individual needs of each unique learner.

To ensure that the emotional needs of the children the teachers use a step plan to resolve conflict which is a life long skill. Children have the opportunity to perform tasks that are labeled as "jobs" to help the classroom community.

Activities available for play and learning include: building with blocks, reading and being read to, art projects, independent art activities, pretend play in the dramatic play area, cooperative play in a variety of areas with peers and outdoor play.

School Aged Program

The school aged program provides care for children that need care on days that the schools are closed as well as during the summer. Children ages 6-8 are welcome.
